This is how we make our reusable coffee cup from used vegetable oils
The BE O cup is made from used vegetable oils that are entirely waste and residues in origin. This material is renewable and saves CO2. Wondering how we transform this raw material into reusable coffee cups? Read on quickly.
This waste stream is filtered together with other vegetable waste to make it dirt free.
We convert the filtered stream twice, to create our bio liquid from used vegetable oils.
We combine the properties of the bio liquid to make the bio
granules
These granules are transformed to the BE O cup.
All parts ready? The BE O cup will be assembled by people with a distance to the labour force. The coffee cups are packaged at the social firm BlueView in Nijmegen.
Ecological footprint of the BE O cup
This reusable coffee cup (340 ml / 11,5 oz) is made from plants. Itโs made from used vegetable oils that are entirely waste and residues in origin. This material is renewable and saves CO2. Itโs designed for on the go, with a super handy design that makes the cup easy to carry. To clean your cup, you can take it apart and clean all components separately. All parts can be replaced separately, which makes it easy to repair the bottle. On top of that itโs fully recyclable.
Our partners
Part of the vegetable oils for the BE O cup are collected by Renewi, the largest collector of organic residues in the Netherlands. The company Neste takes care of the chemical treatment of the vegetable oils and waste from the production process of these fats, out of which Borealis then makes BornewablesTM PP. Our partner VDL GL Plastics produces the final BE O cup.
A reusable coffee cup, a sustainable packaging
Sustainable packaging is part of a reusable coffee cup. That is why our packaging is made from Paperwise: a recyclable mix of agricultural waste and FSC-certified paper. This material is climate neutral and made with 100% green electricity. All our shipping boxes are made from Cradle to Cradle certified cardboard.
