This is how VDL makes our BE O products
This time, we’re traveling to Eindhoven, where our producer of BE O products — VDL is located. Below, we’ll show you exactly how the BE O products are made!

Production at VDL begins with the bio-polyethylene granules. These granules are delivered in large bags on pallets. Using a suction hose, they are drawn into the machine that manufactures the components of the BE O products. Inside the machine, the granules are melted at high temperatures. Depending on the desired color, a very small amount of natural pigment is added during this process.

A block is pushed into the mold of a BE O product component with very high pressure. At the same time, the material is rapidly cooled so it hardens again. At VDL, both the top and bottom parts of the BE O products are produced, each with its own mold and block that can be placed into the machine.

A robotic arm with a suction cup picks up the freshly made top or bottom part of the BE O product and places it onto a conveyor belt. There, the components move in rows of four toward a container, where a VDL employee inspects each piece and packs it into transport boxes. The boxes are then sent to our assembly partner Rijnvicus in Alphen aan den Rijn. There, the BE O products are carefully assembled by a team of enthusiastic employees at the social workplace.

We maintain close contact with the partners and manufacturers we work with. In Alphen aan den Rijn, a motivated team at the Rijnvicus social workplace assembles our BE O products. Read below to learn exactly how this process works.
At Rijnvicus, all components are delivered to assemble the BE O products and package them in our FSC-certified boxes.
After that, the BE O products are assembled by an employee.
The products receive their final finishing touch with our new label, made from PaperWise. Paper produced from agricultural waste. The label is carefully folded around the cap.
To give retailers a helping hand, a barcode is then applied to each product label.
